Bath in Struer harbour

Bath in Struer Harbour

Year: 2015
This proposal is an attempt at activating the industrial harbor at Struer in Denmark.

Creating a Soft Edge

The functionlistic harbor gave rise to an industrial area by the port. The water edge is made even more impermeable by the railway track cutting through the edge of the town. The aim was to bridge this gap, extending human interactions over to the edge.

The bath house includes saunas, spa, small pools along with dressing areas and a restaurant. The pools overlook the main harbor, allowing people to safely enjoy in the water. The aim is to activate the area by providing more recreational facilities to increase footfall and engagement with blue and green areas of the town.

The aim is to activate the area by providing versatile recreational facilities to increase footfall and engagement with blue and green areas of the town. This can be done by providing better and safer access to the water, as well as creating public spaces that promote interaction.

Form Development

The built mass was extended over the water, blurring the boundaries and allowing deeper engagement with blue areas.
